Allen County-Scottsville wins opening game

OWENSBORO – – Allen County-Scottsville rallied from a four-run deficit this morning to claim a dramatic 5-4 victory over Garrard County in the opening round of the KHSAA State Fast Pitch Softball Tournament at Jack C. Fisher Park.

 

Trailing 4-3 in the seventh, Allen County-Scottsville’s Allison Morley started the game-winning rally with a single to left. After pinch 

runner Shelby Harper stole second, Caley Melton delivered an RBI single to tie the score.

 

The Lady Patriots  (35-6-1)  got a pair of hits to load the bases and Macey Cornwell hit into a fielder’’s choice that allowed the winning run to score.

 

Raissa Stovall and Catie Yates had two hits each to pace the offense. Kelsi Pardue pitched five scoreless innings of reilef, allowing just one hit, to pick up her third straight win in the postseason.

 

Allen County-Scottsville will now face Franklin County, a 4-0 winner over Estill County, at 12:15 p.m. today in the winner’s bracket.
