WKU-Tulane pregame observations

by

Welcome to “historic” Fogelman Arena on Tulane’s campus, where we’re about 30 minutes from tipoff.

It really is a tiny, old gym and makes you wonder how they could compete in Conference USA with a facility like this. It’d be the worst facility in the Sun Belt Conference.

That being said, we are still in New Orleans so that makes for a good trip. And while I’m at court level, the Big Red Radio Network is set up in the rafters of this joint. Keeping me from Hal Schmitt always wins points in my book – just kidding Hal. But that’s what you get for having a 10:30 p.m. curfew last night.

* Sights and sounds only seen and heard in New Orleans? Sergio Kerusch singing George Thorogood’s “Bad to the Bone” as it just played over the loudspeakers. George shouldn’t want to get royalties from Sergio’s version.

* It truly is a big game for the Toppers. They’re the better team, but still have no room to overlook anyone – and that’s possible for WKU to do after getting three big wins. We’ll see.
