Tipoff between WKU and Georgia only minutes away

A few minutes before tip off and here’s what I’m noticing at Diddle.

* Not sure if the Hilltoppers are going to sell out tonight, but an already vibrant student section will vastly improve the atmosphere tonight. A win over Louisville, free t-shirts and ESPN (even if a U follows those four letters) will motivate any student section.

* If the Tops don’t win tonight, it may be time to knock out the “Outs” at E.A. Diddle Arena. Tonight’s game has been billed as a “Red Out” and those games haven’t treated WKU hoops well. The Tops lost last year’s “White Out” game to South Alabama and a “Black Out” couldn’t lift the WKU women past Duke earlier this year.

* Longtime pro wrestling fans (like WBKO’s James Brandenburg) may be interested to know former professional wrestling announcer Tony Schiavone is at Diddle Arena tonight. Schiavone does work for the Georgia Bulldogs radio network. I remember him vividly interviewing such stars as Ric Flair and Dusty Rhodes in the NWA. You wrestling fans can correct me if I’m wrong, but I also believe he had a cup of coffee with the WWF.
